CLI

The ase CLI

ase is ASE Brain's command-line tool. You use it to create games on ASE Brain, keep their repos current, release them, and set up the stores and websites they ship to. Your game's CI runs the same ase commands, so what works on your machine works in CI.

ase is one self-contained binary for Windows, macOS and Linux. It updates itself, so you install it once.

Guides

  • Install ase: get the binary onto your machine and keep it current.
  • Sign in: connect ase to your studio, on your machine and in CI.
  • Create a game: make a new game, or put an existing repo on ASE Brain.
  • Keep a game current: bring Brain's workflows, instructions and SDK up to date.
  • Release a game: version, notes, targets and the release workflow.
  • Websites: a game's or studio's static website, checked and uploaded by CI.
  • Store integrations: Steam, Google Play and the App Store.

Every command, flag and default is in the CLI reference, generated from ase itself.

A first session

ase login
ase new-game "Neon Drift" --repo my-org/neon-drift --github
cd neon-drift
ase studio trust --preset github

That signs you in, creates the game in your studio with its repo on GitHub, and lets the game's GitHub Actions release it. From there you open the project in its engine, add the SDK features you need, and run the game's Release workflow when you're ready to ship.

Getting help

ase --help lists the commands, and ase <command> --help describes one. Every command except login, logout, self-update and --version needs you signed in, or a release credential in CI.
